“Jack Molidor, 60, a hearty, soft-spolen, silver-haired man, who runs a small insurance office on Cedar Lake Road in Round Lake’s small downtown and main street, remembers when the village had only 150 residents. His relatives first came to the area in 1844, settling on land given to them by the government.

He also remembers waiting with a mail pouch at the depot for the train when it came through. his father and mother both served as the village’s postmasters. His father, Joseph L. Molidor, was founder of the village’s fire department in 1929.”

“John “Jack” Molidor
   Jack Molidor, 90, passed away after a short stay at Condell Hospital on November 11, 2020. He was born on May 10, 1930, in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Gertrude (Collins) Molidor.
   Jack lived his whole life on Lincoln Avenue growing up at 108 until building his own home at 7 Lincoln Avenue where he resided until his death. Jack attended Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin and finished at Grant High School in Fox Lake, Illinois. He married Yvonne De St. Sauveur on May 10, 1952. He enlisted in the US Naval Reserves in 1954 where he served for 4 years. Jack was active in his beloved town of Round Lake serving as a volunteer firefighter for many years. He was a Round Lake Trustee, held an officer position on the Round Lake Chamber of Commerce and served on the Police and Fire Commission. He worked in sales with Metropolitan Life Insurance before establishing his own brokerage firm, Molidor Insurance Agency, where he served the community for over 30 years.
   In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Yvonne (2017) and his brother, Gerald Molidor, Sr. Surviving are his children Therese Molidor of Gurnee, Denise (John) Bailey of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Peter (Sandra) Molidor of Ingleside, IL and Gregory (Teri) Molidor of Johnsburg, IL; Seven grandchildren: Caitlin (Patrick) Worthen, Brett (Jessica) Bailey, Colton (Katie) Bailey, Tyler Molidor, Matteson Molidor, Ashley Molidor, and Jon Molidor as well as two great grandchildren, Evelyn James, and Ella Rose Bailey. Brother, Joel (Patti) Molidor, sisters, Janet (Ted) Stefaniak, Jeanne (the late Robert) Kristan and Mary Jo (Tom) Lucas and sister-in-law, Margarete Molidor as well as many nieces and nephews.
   A viewing will take place on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Justen Funeral Home, 222 Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL 60073 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. There will be a funeral mass on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 9:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Round Lake and burial immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery.
   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
   In accordance with public gathering restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a mask and observe social distancing. The funeral home staff will monitor capacity limits and allow up to 25 people in at a time.

   WAUCONDA – Gerald C. Molidor Sr., beloved husband and father, entered into rest Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Wauconda Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre.
   He was born June 6, 1931, in Waukegan, the second child of Joseph and Gertrude Collins Molidor.
   He was a lifelong resident of Round Lake. He and his wife, Maggie, owned and operated Molidor’s Standard Gas Station-Car Wash in Round Lake from 1955 to 1990. He was a member of the Naval Reserves. Known for his talents as a baseball player in his early years, he also was an avid golfer and hunter. He played the banjo with several groups and enjoyed entertaining. His infectious grin made others smile back.
   He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margarete Stob “Maggie” Molidor; his children, Marcia M. (Mark) Wilhelmi of Augustsa, Ga., Gerald C. (Kathryn) Molidor Jr. of McHenry, Christa C. Molidor (Larry Rubin) of Fox Lake, Susan M. (John) McClelland of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and Cara M. (Brett) Lovrien of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 11 grandchildren, Gerald C. (Ashley) Molidor III, Sara A. Molidor, L. J. Wilhelmi, John R. Molidor, Joshua J. Jensen, Mark M. Wilhelmi, Andrew M. and Colleen M. McClelland, Sydney M., Brooke A. and Olivia J. Lovrien; his brothers, Jack (Yvonne) Molidor and Joel (Patti) Molidor; his sisters, Janet (Ted) Stefaniak, Jeanne (Bob) Kristan of Round Lake, and Mary Jo (Tom) Lucas, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Gertrude; his second mother, Marie Luby Molidor; his in-laws, Jacob and Elsie Stob of Ingleside; and his brother-in-law, Jacob Stob Jr.
   A wake will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 114 N. Lincoln Ave., Round Lake with the Rev. Tim O’Malley officiating.
   Interment will follow at Grant Township Cemetery, 26725 W. Molidor Road, Ingleside, overlooking the original Molidor family farm.
   The family is most grateful for the superb and personal care he received while at Wauconda Healthcare and Rehabilitation, and for the support of Family Home and Health Services during his illness.
