According to the Chicago Tribune (Chicago IL) Thursday, November 9, 1939, page 17:

“Loses Control, Dies
   Charles Elmer Sullivan, 25 years old, of Grayslake, died in Condell Memorial hospital, Libertyville, of injuries suffered Sunday night when he lost control of his automobile.  It crashed into a tree in state route 176 three miles west of Wauconda.  A companion, Albert Wicks, 34, also of Grayslake, was injured.”
