“BERNARD W. VOGT – ANTIOCH – Bernard W. Vogt, 70, Camp Lake, Wis., died Thursday, June 9, in Kenosha Memorial Hospital, Kenosha, Wis.  He was born July 10, 1906, in Fremont Center, and moved to Camp Lake four years ago.  He farmed in the Round Lake area for many years.  Survivors are his widow, Mary; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Joe) Weidman, Salem, Wis.; a granddaughter, Keri; a brother, Edward Vogt, Island Lake; and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Benwell, Round Lake.  Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Strang funeral home, Antioch, with burial in Warren cemetery.”

According to the Chicago Tribune (Chicago IL) Friday, March 17, 1939, page 12:

Wrecked Machine Found West of Round Lake.
   “A highway tragedy which brought death to a young Lake county woman and left her companion critically injured was discovered early yesterday.  The automobile of the couple had crashed into a tree beside a road leading to a lovers’ lane four miles west of Round Lake, in Lake county.
   The wrecked car was found by Deputy Sheriff Frank Valenta.  In it was Miss Mary Vogt, 30 years old, a housekeeper for her father, Joseph, on a farm two and one-half miles west of Round Lake, and Dave Bianco, 33, son of Mrs. Ottelia Bianco, owner of a roadhouse a mile west of Round Lake.  Miss Vogt was dead.  Bianco had a skull fracture.

   Bianco said he and Miss Vogt had been drinking in a tavern and were on their way to the woman’s home.  He was taken to St. Theresa’s hospital in Waukegan.”

According to the McHenry Plaindealer (McHenry IL) Thursday, March 23, 1939, page 2:

   “A woman was killed and her escort was in a critical condition at the hospital last Thursday as the result of an automobile accident some time during the night on a lonely gravel road near Long Lake.  Miss Mary Vogt, of Round Lake, was found dead, her neck broken and arms and legs fractured, in the wrecked automobile of Dave Bianco, 33, manager of the Villa Bianco restaurant and tavern Round Lake.  Bianco, his hand and legs frozen, was sitting helpless in the wrecked car with a possible skull fracture and internal injuries.”
