According to the 1900 U.S. Census for City of Chicago, Town of Lake View, Cook County, Illinois living at 158 Southport Ave., the household members were:

“Charles Berndt, head, born January 1841, age 59 married, Years married: 36, born in Germany, parents born in Germany, Immigration year: 1865, Years in U.S.: 35, Naturalized, Occupation: night watchman; Carolina, wife, born January 1846, age 54, married, Years married: 36, 6 children born, 6 children living, born in Germany, parents born in Germany, Immigration year: 1865, Years in U.S.: 35; Charles Berndt, son, born June 1873, age 26, single, born in Illinois, Occupation: brass finisher; Lizzie Berndt, daughter, born January 1875, age 25, single, born in Illinois, Occupation: paper box maker; Emma Berndt, daughter, born April 1877, age 23, single, born in Illinois, Occupation: house work; George Berndt, son, born April 1881, age 19, single, born in Illinois, Occupation: teamster.”

(NOTE: I do not know the relationship of George Berndt with Frank and Mary (Hooke) Stanton.  He is not listed on the 1940 U.S. Census of Frank and Mary but there are several blank name lines open indicated as “Hired hand” “Left in error”.  They lived on Rollins Road in Grant Township.)

According to the 1950 U.S. Census for Avon Township, Lake County, IL living on Rollins Road (unincorporated Long Lake Area), the household members were:

“George W. Jaedicke, head, age 60, married, born in Canada, Occupation: Div. Manager – Public Service; Mary H.
