(Dennison) Howard (1840-1912); married Nellie Elizabeth Rogers on October 3, 1885 in Lake County, IL; Orlando died September 29, 1935 in Grant Township, Lake County, IL; buried in Grant Cemetery, Ingleside, Lake County, IL

According to the McHenry Plaindealer (McHenry IL) Thursday, October 10, 1935, page 1:

   “Orlando A. Howard, 72 years old, a farmer living near Round Lake, was killed Sunday morning of last week, when his automobile crashed into a Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific railroad train.  The accident occurred at a crossing east of Round Lake.”

According to the Wisconsin State Journal (Madison WI) Monday, February 2, 1976, page 7:

Ames, Mrs. Elizabeth M.

BROADHEAD – Mrs. Elizabeth M. Ames, age 61, of Brodhead, died on Saturday, January 31, 1976, at a Amdison (sic) hospital, after an extended illness.  She was born in Round Lake, Illinois, September 3, 1914, the daughter of Charles Joseph and Vera (Howard) Davis.  She was employed at Sentry Foods in Brodhead for the past 19 years.  Mrs. Ames was a member of the Brodhead United Methoidst (sic) Church.  She is survived by her husband, Robert; her sister, Elinor (Mrs. Sherwood) Deppen of Rockford; her children Leaman, Chicago, Mrs. Clifford (Vera) Anderson of Baraboo, Robert, Rapid City, South Dakota, Mrs. Alan (Barbara) Bunner, Madison her step-mother, Mrs. Minnie Davis of Round Lake; and six grandchildren.  Funeral services will beheld at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Brodhead, at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3.  The Rev. Amos Shimko officiating.  THE NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 503 W. Beloit St., Orfordville, is in charge of the arrangements.  There will be no visitation.  The family suggest that flowers be omitted.”

According to the Libertyville Independent (Libertyville IL) Thursday, February 22, 1923, page 1:

OF ROUND LAKE,
PNEUMONIA VICTIM

   Mrs. Joseph Davis, 35 years old, died at midnight Friday, after an illness of two weeks, pneumonia being the cause.
   Mrs. Davis leaves besides her husband, two children, Elizabeth, 8, and Elnora, 6 one brother, Herbard Howard of Danville, two sisters, Mrs. William Molifore, of Round Lake, Miss Sarah Howard and her father and Mother, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Howard, of Round Lake, and Mrs. Charles A. Raught, 291 West street, Waukegan.”

According to the History of Vermilion County, Illinois, Volume 2, 1930, regarding to Herbert Howard, brother of Vera (Howard) Davis:

   “O.A. Howard, retired, is a native of Pennsylvania.  He was reared and educated there and followed general farming and stock raising until 1914, at which time he came to Illinois and settled at Round Lake.  He is now a resident of that place.  Mr. and Mrs. Howard have the following children: H. H., the subject of this sketch; Vera, who died in 1923, was the wife of Joseph Davis, lives at Round Lake, Illinois; Bessie, married William Molidor, farmer, lives at Round Lake, Illinois; and Sarah, married Raymond Ripberger, lives at Round Lake, Illinois.”
