According to the Altoon Tribune (Altoona PA) Wednesday, November 13, 1957, page 12:

“JOSEPH E. DEAN

  Of 1414 1/2 18th St., died at Mercy hospital Tuesday at 1:55 P. M. after an extended illness.
   He was born at Water Street, Huntingdon county, Feb. 26, 1883, a son of John and Elizabeth (Teters) Dean.  He married Grace Slippey on Jan. 31, 1905, at Hollidaysburg.
   He was a member of the East Sharpsburg Reformed church and was an employe of the New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co.  Mr. Dean was a member of the Golden Age club.
   He leaves his widow and these children: Mrs. Elizabeth Stonerook of Sandusky, O., Clayton of Chicago, George, address unknown, Mrs. Ida Market of Toledo, O., Mrs. Ethel Mae Adams of Roaring Spring, Joseph, Jr., of Altoona and Clarence of Rockford, Ill.; 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters, John and Warren of Alttona, charles of Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Cora Rose, Mrs. Elsie Kuhlman and Mrs. Florence Dorris, all of Altoona, and Mrs. Edna Rowan of California.  Two sons and one daughter preceded him in death.
   Friends will be received at the Creamer and Plank funeral home, Hollidaysburg, after 7 P. M. today.”

   A Claysburg man was killed, two injured and a number of persons escaped injury in a two-car crash at Jugtown, Saturday night, in which two cards were totally demolished.
   Although surrounding areas were accident-free over the weekend, 13 person were injured in accidents in Blair county and Altoona over Saturday and Sunday

DIES OF INJURIES

   .Harry Russell Dean, 46, of Claysburg, R. D., died at Nason hospital, Roaring Spring, at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, Dr. Daniel M. Replogle, coroner, reported, stating that he had suffered a fracture of the skull, a fracture of the left hip, a deep laceration of the skull and lacerations and bruises of the left hand in the accident on route No. 220 two miles north of Claysburg at Jugtown at 8:50 p. m. Saturday night.
   Rollans Strayer, 44, of Claysburg, R. D., the operator of the 1937 Chevrolet in which Dean was a passenger, was injured and taken to Nason hospital,  Roaring Spring.
   Charles A. Rese, 30 of Alum Bank, Bedford county operator of the Hudson Terraplance, which was also demolished, suffered only minor injuries.

PASSENGERS DISAPPEAR

   Rese told state police there were six person in the Strayer car.  However, aside from the man who was fatally injured and the operator, the passengers left the scene of the accident and were not located by Sunday evening for questioning.
   Deputy Coroner Edgar G. Walls visited the scene of the accident with Pfc. John H. Toomey of the Ant Hills barracks, who investigated, and was joined by Dr. Replogle following the latter’s investigation at the hospital.”

   “Harry Russell Dean was born in Hollidays burg Sept. 6, 1902, the son of Joseph E. and Clara (Slippey) Dean.
   Surviving are his parents and the following sisters and brothers Mrs. Blair Stonerook and Clayton Dean, Sandusky, O.; Mrs. George Market, Toledo, O.; Mrs. Jesse Adams, Roaring Spring, R. D.; Joseph, Altoona; Wilfred, Rockford, Ill.; and George Dean.
   He was a member of the Reformed church and had been employed by the Queen Lumber company.
   Friends are being received at the home of his parents, 1414 1/2 Eighteenth street, after 7 o’clock Monday evening.”

   Surviving her are her mother, Mrs. Grace Dean, Altoona, Pa.; two daughters, Miss Mary Jane, at home; and Mrs. Gladys Cheatham, Sandusky; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Frank Klotz, Pa., and Mrs. William Morey, Florida; three stepsons, Paul Stonerook, Isle of St. George; Park Stonerook, Florida; and Palmer Stonebrook, Bahama Islands; 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. George market, Toledo; and Mrs. Ethel May Adams, Pa.; Joseph Dean, Pa.; and Wilfred Dean, Ill.; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
   She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, a member of the Love One Another Circle of the church, and a 16-year employ of Grill Meats, Inc.

Sinisi on Feb. 2, 1948, at Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona and she died Aug. 2, 1994.  He then married Deloras J. (Rath) White on Nov. 28, 1997, at Grace Bible Church, Hollidays burg.  Survived by wife, Dee, Duncansville; son, Kenneth & wife, Debbie, Hollidaysburg; daughter, Bonnie Barry, Greenwood; 4 grandchildren; Christopher, Stevie Marie, Matthew and Melissa; 4 stepchildren: Sherry Nagle & husband, Charlie, Duncansville; Dave White & wife, Trudy, Hollidaysburg; Tina Blasko & husband, Jim, Bedford and Pastor Timothy White & wife, Sherry, Hamilton, VA; 12 step grandchildren; and 15 step gr. Grandchildren.  Predeceased by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.  Joseph lived in Roaring Spring until 1942, having graduated from high school there in 1941 and also from Dale Carnegie.  He was a U.S. Army Air Corps, WWII veteran, having entered in August 1942.  He was assigned to the 3010th Army Air Base Unit, attaining the rank of sergeant.  He was discharged in October 1945.  Joseph then worked for 21 years for Pepsi and Servomation.  He also had his own garage, finally retiring in 1976 after 6 years as service manager for Harpster Chevy Buick, Warriors Mark.  Member, Grace Bible Church.  Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Altoona.  Interment, Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.”

According to the Daily Sentinel (Woodstock IL) Monday, July 10, 1961, page 8:

“DIE IN CRASH – GRAYSLAKE, Ill. – Clayton Dean, 49, of Lake Park, and Lincoln Turner, 31, of Antioch, were killed Saturday night when their pickup truck and a dump truck collided on Illinois 120 two miles east of Grayslake.”

According to the Altoona Mirror (Altoona PA) Saturday, July 15, 1961:

“Hollidaysburg
Native Dies in
Illinois Wreck

   Clayton S. Dean, 49, a native of Hollidaysburg and former resident of Altoona, residing in Round Lake Park, Ill., died at 5:04 p. m. last Saturday in an automobile accident while riding home from his work in Chicago.
   He was a passenger in a car operated by a 29-year old father of three who was so crushed in the wreckage of the car that it had to be cut apart to release the body.  The double fatality occurred when a gravel truck swerved to avoid a compact car and struck the other vehicle instead.
   Mr. Dean was a son of Joseph E. and Grace (Slippey) Dean and is survived by his mother, who resides in Toledo, Ohio, and Holidaysburg.
   Also surviving are his wife, Florence; five step-children, Joseph and Sam Campanale of New York, Lawrence of Ohio, Mrs. Lois Schlobohm and Mrs. Joan Marquette of Chicago; eight grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters, George in Kentucky, Joseph of Altoona, Clarence of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Elizabeth Stonerook of Sandusky, Ohio, Mrs. Ida Market of Toledo and Mrs. Ethel Adams of Roaring Spring.
   Interment was made in Fort Hill Cemetery, at Round Lake.”
