“Custodian’s “Mr. Panther” title is richly deserved
One of the inaugural inductees in the Round Lake High School Hall of Fame is 40-year custodian Fred Priemer, who is informally known as “Mr. Panther” for his years of enthusiastic backing of the school’s athletic teams.
“Fred (a Round Lake High graduate) went to work at the school the day after he graduated,” said Howard Conkling, chairman of the Hall of Fame committee.
“He’s one of those ‘up’ people you like to meet every day. Through the years he’d lead the cheers for the crowds at football and basketball games and at our pep assemblies.”
In that same vein, Priemer will lead all those in attendance at Saturday’s banquet in the Round Lake High School fight song.”
