Dix in preaching the funeral sermon voiced the sentiments of the community by his kindly words of condolence.  The passing of these innocent lives is always a hard blow to fond parents, and when 2 in one family are called within a few days, friends are filled with compassion.  If expressions of sympathy can alleviate the anguish suffered at such time, Mr. and Mrs. Porteous will certainly find comfort, as their double bereavement appeals to our people in a way that calls forth kindly words of tenderest consolation.”
