According to the Findagrave memorial of George Beecher Cable (1858-1920) #27038696 by “priscilla ross-fox” and contributed by L. Winslow:
“Suggested edit: George, the son of David and Jane Thomson Cable, was left an orphan in infancy. His boyhood and youth were spent in Avon Twp. with his maternal grandparents, George and Agnes (Langmuir) Thomson.
He married Mary Hart Feb. 22, 1882.
George was a farmer south of Lake Villa until he retired and moved to Grayslake. he served as a school director for many years.”
According to the Libertyville Independent (Libertyville IL) Thursday, May 6, 1920, page 7 in regards to George Cable:
“George Beecher Cable was born in Muskegan, Mich., May 24, 1858, and passed away at his home in Grayslake, Ill., April 29, 1920, aged 61 years, 11 months and 5 days. February 22, 1882 he was united in marriage to Mary K. Hart, and to this union one child was born, Henry David Cable, of Grayslake, who with the wife and one sister, Mrs. Ben Hendee, also of Grayslake, with other relatives and many friends survive to mourn his loss.”
According to the Probate Petition for Appointment of Administrator in Muskegon County, MI dated November 29, 1861:
“That David D. Cable late of the Township of Muskegan in the said County of Muskegan departed this life in said Township of Muskegan on Wednesday the thirteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one… And your petition further shows that the names and residence of the heirs at law of said deceased, and other person interested in his estate, are as follows:

According to the “Historical and Statistical Sketches, of Lake County, State of Illinois” by Elijah M. Haines. Waukegan, Ill. 1852, pages 49-50:
“In June 1846, Mr. Gavin resigned his office on Clerk of the Circuit Court, when Isaac Hopkinson, Esq., a member of the Lake County Bar, and the first lawyer who settled at Little Fort, was appointed by Judge young in his stead. He continued in office until June 1847, when he was succeeded by George Thomson, Esq., of fort Hill, under appointment of Hon. Jesse B. Thomas, who had succeeded Mr. young as Judge of the 7th Judicial Circuit.”

“GEORGE THOMSON was born in Scotland in 1807. He came to Lake County in 1838 and was one of the earliest settlers of Avon Township. He was a lawyer and was Circuit Clerk of Lake County from 1848 to 1868. He was postmaster at Fort Hill from 1853 to 1884. He was married in 1828 to Agnes Langmeier of Scotland. She was born in 1809.”

FORT HILL.
The postoffice at Fort Hill was established on July 29, 1840. This office was originally in McHenry County, and when changed to Lake County, was located in the Town of Fremont, but later removed to Avon Township, where it remained until discontinued on June 14, 1904, at which time the mail was ordered sent to Round Lake. The following named person were appointed and served as postmaster at this office while in existence:
Levi Marble, appointed July 29, 1840.
Samuel L. Wood, appointed March 31, 1841.
Timothy B. Titcomb, appointed February 5, 1844.

According to the 1860 U.S. Census for the Town of Avon, Lake County, IL with a Fox Lake post office the household members were:

According to the 1880 U.S. Census for the Town of Avon, Lake County, IL the household members were:
“George Thompson (sic Thomson), age 73, widower, occupation: retired lawyer, born in Scotland, parents born in Scotland; Sophia Kapple, age 42, daughter, widower, born in Ohio, parents born in Scotland; Agnes Kapple, age 21, daughter (sic granddaughter), single, born in Illinois, parents born in Ohio; Frank J. Kapple, age 18, son (sic grandson), single, occupation: apprentice harness maker, born in Illinois, parents born in Ohio; Isabla Kapple, age 15, daughter (sic granddaughter), single, born in Illinois, parents born in Ohio”
According to “The Past and Present of Lake County, Illinois”. Wm. LeBaron & Co, Chicago. 1877; page 365:
“THOMSON, GEO., farmer and lawyer; Sec. 31; P. O. Fort Hill; holds office of P. M.; born in Scotland, in 1807; came to Lake Co. in 1838; he was the first settler in the township; owns 175 acres, worth $50 per acre; has resided on the same farm for 39 years; Rep.; has been Clerk of Circuit Court; practiced law ten years; has been P. M. twenty-four years; married in 1829, Anges Langmuir, in Scotland; she was born in 1809; eight children, five living – Jane, born 1830 (died 1863); Margaret, born 1833 (died 1849); Agnes, born 1835; Isabella and Sophia, twins, born 1837; Wm., born 1842 (married Alice Lusk in 1863); John L., born 1844 (died 1848), and Frances E., born 1845.”
According to the Illinois, Wills and Probate Records, 1772-1999, Will of George Thomson:
“In the name of God. Amen. I, George Thomson, of the town of Avon in the county of Lake and state of Illinois, being of sound mind and perfect memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say:
After the payment of all my just debts and financial and burial charges and expenses which I direct to be paid I give bequeath and devise my property and estate as follows.
First. All my household furniture, begging and other articles of personal property usually used in my dwelling house for family use and for furnishing my said dwelling house, except my writing desk, commonly called the “Post office desk”, I give bequeath and devise unto my daughter Sophia Kapple and unto her heirs and assigns forever and secondly
All the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate of which I may be the owner at the time of my death of every kind and nature, and all the lands and real estate of which I may be the owner, or of which I may be seized at the time of my death wherever the same may be situated and all my interest and estate any lands and real estate by me owned at the time of my death whenever the same may be situated I give bequeath and devise unto my son William Thomson and unto his heirs and assigns forever.
And I hereby nominate and appoint my said son William Thomson my sole executor of this my last will and testament and I hereby request that letters testamentary may be granted to him without his giving security for the faithfull discharge of his duties as such executor.
And I hereby revoke all former wills by me made.
