According to the Lake County Illinois Genealogical Society. “Strang Funeral Home – Grayslake, Illinois – 1908-1964”. Mundelein IL. 2015, page 68:

“Surname: COMBS; Name: Abram B.; Birth Date/Place: 01 Aug 1872, Avon Twp.; Cause of Death: Cerebral Thrombosis; AGE, S, M, W, D: M; Occupation: Farmer; Minister – Funeral Home: Rev. J. NELSON, Community Church, Round Lake; Burial Place – Next of Kin: East Fox River, Wm L. COMBS (NY)-Father, Caroline (SEEBER) (Wauconda)-Mother”

According to the Chicago Tribune (Chicago IL) Wednesday, June 18, 1947, page 34:

“Abram B. Combs
   Services for Abram B. Combs, 74, retired Lake county farmer and vice president of the First National Bank, Round Lake, will be held at 2 p. m. tomorrow in the Round Lake Community church.  Mr. Combs died Monday on his farm, Burr Oak, two miles east of Round Lake.  He had lived on this farm all of his life.  Surviving are his widow, Maud, and two brothers.”

3. William “Willie” Combs born December 28, 1875 in Fort Hill, Lake County, IL; never married

Clinton Bond Combs born November 23, 1877 in Fort Hill, Lake County, IL; married Florence Alice Bater (1880-1952) on March 7, 1898, daughter of Henry Bater (1830-1917) and Sarah (Harris) Bater (1832-1905); Clinton died May 28, 1953 in Waterman, DeKalb County, IL (See section pertaining to Clinton Bond Combs buried in the Fort Hill Cemetery) (See section pertaining to Florence Alice (Bater) Combs buried in the Fort Hill Cemetery)

According to the U.S., Civil War Draft Registrations Records, 1863-1865 (SCHEDULE I. – CONSOLIDATED LIST of all person of Class I, subject to do military duty in the Second Congressional District, consisting of the Counties of Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake Kane and DeKalb, State of Illinois, enumerated during the month of .July, 1863, under direction of Capt Amos Bloom, Provost Marshal.):

“Residence: Wauconda Lake Co; Name: Combs Wm. Age 1st July, 1863: 26; White or Colored: White; Profession, Occupation or Trade: Laborer; Married or Unmarried: Unmarried; Place of Birth: New York”

According to the 1880 U.S. Census for the Town of Avon, Lake County, IL the household members were:

“William Combs, age 42, married occupation: farmer, born in New York, parents born in New York; Carlen (sic Caroline) E. Combs, age 36, wife, married, born in Illinois, father born in New York, mother born in Ohio; Abrham, age 7, son, single, born in Illinois; Willie Combs, age 4, son, single, born in Illinois; Clinton B. Combs, age 2, son, single, born in Illinois”

According to the 1900 U.S. Census for Avon Township, Lake County, IL the household members were:

“William Combs, head, born April 1837, age 63, married for 30 years, born in New York, father born in Scotland, mother born in New York, occupation: farmer; Carrie E. Combs, wife, born October, 1845, age 56, married for 30 years, 3 children born, 3 children living, born in Illinois, father born in New York, mother born in Ohio; Sylvester Eyart, servant, born October 1876, age 23, single, born in Germany, parents born in Germany, immigrated in 1897, lived in US for 3 years, occupation: farm laborer”

According to the Lake County Independent, January 17, 1902:

“Old Resident Dead

   Wm. T. Combs, an old resident of Lake county, died Monday morning at 5:30 a.m. at his home in Fort Hill, after an illness of about a year.
   He was seventy years of age and had lived in Lake county about forty years.
   Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Abe, William and Bond.
   Funeral was held Thursday from Fort Hill church, Rev. W. E. Toll, of Waukegan, officiating.”

According to the Lake County Independent, December 25, 1903:

   “J. H. Miller, of McHenry, placed a monument in the Fort Hill cemetery grounds in memory of W. T. Combs and for little C. B. Combs.”
