“ENDS LIFE AFTER OCEAN TRIP TO FORGET LOVE
Ivan Kapple, 31 years old, who returned April 1 from a six months’ European trip taken as a “love cur,” shot and killed himself yesterday in his father’s home at 9533 Longwood drive in the Beverly Hills residential section.  The father, Frank Kapple, was a harness manufacturer at 4211 South Halsted street for many years.
Young Kapple, it was said, had an unhappy love affair with a downstate girl whose name relatives did not reveal.  After his return from Europe the harness business was burned in the recent stockyards fire.  Without a job, he became increasingly despondent members of the family said.
A married sister, Mrs. Helen Iverson, of Eagle River, Wis., and her husband, here with the World’s Fair, were to have had luncheon with two guests at the house.  They waited fifteen minutes for Kapple, and then his sister began a search.  His body was found in a closet off the elder Kapple’s room.  The weapon he used was a derringer which had been in the family three generations and was kept on the father’s desk as a curio.”
