William H. Kroncke, 64, of Kenosha, died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2003) at Woodstock Nursing home.
Born in Round Lake, Ill. on April 23, 1939, he was the son of the late Henry and Bertha Kroncke. He spent his youth in Round Lake and worked with his father at Kroncke-Colby Paint Company.
He later worked for Miller-Kreuger Dodge as sales manager. He moved to Shelbyville, Ill., and purchased Pier 16 Marine, which he operated with his family, selling boats and snowmobiles. He later moved to Greenville, N.C., and worked for Greenville Marine.
He retired in Kenosha.
Survivors include two sons, William (Cindy) of Mt. Zion, Ill., and Wallace H. of Kenosha; his former wife, Dolly Kroncke of Missouri; and four grandchildren.
A brother, Henry, preceded him in death.
Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium of Grayslake, Ill. is in charge of arrangements.”

Mrs. Carrie M. Robinson, 77, a resident of the town of Mitchell, died at Plymouth Hospital at 8:30 p. m. Thursday, following an illness of two months.
She was born May 5, 1876, in Chicago, a daughter of Henry Kroncke. She came to Wisconsin in 1934 and on March 18, 1935 was married to John Robinson at Maribel (Manitowoc County). Her husband died 15 years ago. For the past two years she has lived with a nephew, Ernest Richter, in Mitchell.
Surviving are four brothers, Charles, Elmer and William Kroncke of Chicago and Henry Kroncke of Round Lake, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. George Voltz of Hales Corner, Wis., and Mrs. Henry Schwake of Chicago. One brother preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Wittkopp Funeral home, Plymouth, with the Rev. G. A. Karpinsky, assistant pastor of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Plymouth, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Plymouth.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p. m. Saturday until the time of services Sunday.”

Services for Harry Kroncke
to be held Friday
Funeral services for Harry Kroncke, 55, resident of Pleasant Prairie township, who was killed instantly Monday evening when an automobile driven by his son, Harry, Jr., collided with another auto at the intersection of Highway 173 and the Kenosha road, a mile west of Zion, Ill., will be held in Chicago Friday afternoon.
The body was removed from the Peterson funeral home in Waukegan to the Jaeger Funeral home, 3526 N. Cicero avenue, Chicago, Tuesday afternoon. Services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the interment following in Concordia cemetery. Kroncke is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Kroncke; his son, Harry; and three daughters, Irene, Irma and Evelyn.
Four other persons injured in the collision were reported in improved condition at St. Theresa’s hospital in Waukegan today.”
According to the Community News (Zion IL) Thursday, September 11, 1941, page 18:
“ONE KILLED AND FOUR
INJURED IN ACCIDENT
An automobile collision which occured Monday evening at Kenosha Road and Route 173 resulted in the death of a Kenosha painting contractor and serious injuries to four other persons.
The Kroncke car was driven north on Kenosha Road by Harry Kroncke, 22, who had as passengers, his father, Harry Kroncke, Sr., 58 and Arthur Simmons, 22, all of whom lived on McKeown Rd., Kenosha. They entered the intersection just as a car driving by Stanley Peterson, 28, of Winthrop Harbor, who was accompanied by his wife, Ruth, approached it. Peterson’s car which was travelling west on Route 173 crashed into the side of Kronche’s (sic) car.
Mr. Kroncke Sr., a painting contractor was killed instantly. His son Harry, and Arthur Simmons were seriously injured. Kronche (sic) Jr. suffered cuts on the head, a fracture of the right leg, and was bruised about the body. Sommons (sic) suffered a cut on the right ear and body bruises.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson were also seriously injured. Mrs. Peterson received a fractured pelvis, a possible skull fracture and severe cuts and bruises. Mr. Peterson was cut on the left eye and suffered internal injuries. The injured were all taken to the St. Therese hospital. Kroncke’s body was removed to the Peterson Funeral Home in Waukegan.
This death marks the thirty-second traffic death of the year for the county compared to thirty-tree at this time last year.”
